Traditionally, the Commonwealth countries or regions purchased fire truck from the United Kingdom. Hong Kong, which belonged to British colony, of course purchased British brand fire truck. This DENNIS RS major pump which was modified on the basis of the DENNIS RS133 series.  It was once the main fire truck type of the Hong Kong fire service brigade.

The DENNIS RS features a typical 3-compartment with seven cabins design with a pumping capacity of 4,500 liters per minute.  Pump truck must be sturdy and durable.  So the traditional Dennis chassis is used, and all the components of the chassis are placed in the car. Dennis RS first entered Hong Kong on December 1, 1987 (plate number F404-F406), and the last batch of Dennis RS (plate number F111-F118) arrived Hong Kong on March 17, 1995. Since then, the DENNIS RS fire pump truck has been used as a historical testimony, accompanied Hong Kong transiting from the British colony period to the early stage of China’s recovery of Hong Kong sovereignty.

In 2007, Alexander Dennis announced the suspension of fire trucks production. The Hong Kong Fire Services Department changed to purchase the fire trucks that were modified based on Scania and MAN chassis.
